Self-Realization Fellowship Temple, Ashram Center and Meditation Gardens in Encinitas

The Self-Realization Fellowship Temple, Auxiliary Chapel and Ashram Center have become a site of pilgrimage for thousands of people each year, who come from all parts of the globe. Paramahansa Yogananda founded Self-Realization Fellowship (SRF) in 1920 to disseminate the universal teachings of Kriya Yoga, a sacred spiritual science originating millenniums ago in India. Today, the society is dedicated to carrying on his spiritual and humanitarian work by fostering harmony and goodwill among those of all races, cultures and creeds.

The Temple and Auxiliary Chapel offer a full program of inspirational lectures, meditations, scriptural reading and meditation services, kirtans (devotional chanting), Sunday School and teen classes, and other activities to deepen spiritual practices. At the nearby Ashram Center, visitors can view the Hermitage Shrine, browse the gift shop, experience a spiritual renewal through a retreat program, or stroll through the Meditation Gardens. The beautiful and tranquil gardens offer places to meditate, a meandering stream, lush tropical trees and plants, koi pond, and spectacular Pacific Ocean views of Swami’s famous surf spot.

The SRF Temple, Auxiliary Chapel, and Ashram Center are located in downtown Encinitas. For more information, call (760) 436-7220 or visit www.encinitastemple.org.
