Art Alive at The San Diego Museum Of Art
April 24 – 27
The San Diego Museum of Art (SDMA) is in full bloom this spring, with floral designers interpreting works of art and architecture into vibrant floral displays from April 24 to April 27. Art Alive is the Museum’s signature annual fundraiser, providing critical year-round support for exhibitions, education, and outreach programs in the community. This year, the tenth edition of the Art Alive kick-off party Bloom Bash promises to make a splash with its most colorful and large-scale festivities yet.
Art Alive brings a dazzling array of nearly 100 colorful floral arrangements interpreting art and architecture throughout the Museum to the San Diego community. The theme for Art Alive 2025 celebrates the groundbreaking architectural designs of Lord Norman Foster and his internationally renowned studio Foster + Partners. For the first time in the 44 years of Art Alive, floral designers will not only be sharing their botanical creations interpreting paintings, drawings, photography, and sculpture, but also creating floral interpretations inspired by architecture.
The kick-off party to Art Alive weekend is Bloom Bash, which returns this year for its tenth edition on Friday, April 25, offering immersive art installations; live performances from past event favorites including saxophonist Erisa Nicole; sweet and savory bites from more than 35 top eateries; and signature cocktails, craft beer and upscale wines. The 21+ party also features a Ferris wheel in the Plaza de Panama outside the Museum, live music, unique performances, and dancing. On top of honoring the craft of architecture, this year’s edition of the soiree is metamorphosis themed, with both local and nationally recognized artists contributing butterfly-inspired art installations sure to envelop attendees in an ethereal evening of celebration. Featured artists with installations on view during the event and throughout Art Alive weekend include Christopher Schardt and German Corrales.
In addition to the four-day Art Alive floral exhibition, further celebratory weekend festivities include the Museum’s creative black-tie gala, the Premiere Dinner, on Thursday, April 24; the tenth edition of Bloom Bash, the Museum’s kick-off party to Art Alive weekend for foodies and culturemakers aged 21+ on Friday, April 25; and the Garden of Activities, bringing hands-on art-making for artists of all ages to the Museum’s sculpture garden on Saturday, April 26, and Sunday, April 27.
