San Diego Air and Space Museum “Listed 10 Best Aviation Museums”

The San Diego Air & Space Museum, located in Balboa Park, has been listed as one of the “10 Best Aviation Museums Around the U.S.” by Travel + Leisure in a recent online posting by the globally-known magazine.

The article states: “The Museum in San Diego is a fun place to visit. Part of the monumental Balboa Park complex of museums, this institution is known not only for its aircraft, but its in-depth exhibits of famous aviators, including the Wright Brothers, Charles Lindbergh, and Amelia Earhart, as well as its extensive library and archives. Don’t miss the flight simulators — they allow you to experience the aerobatics of aerial combat. For something a little easier on the body, there’s also the 3D/4D Zable Theater.”

Some of the other world-famous institutions on the “10 Best Aviation Museums Around the U.S” list include the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum in Washington, D.C. (of which the San Diego Air & Space Museum is an affiliate), the Intrepid Museum in New York, the National Museum of the United States Air Force in Ohio, and the National Naval Aviation Museum in Pensacola, Florida.

The San Diego Air & Space Museum is the only institution from California on the list of “10 Best Aviation Museums Around the U.S.”

The San Diego Air & Space Museum is California’s official air and space museum and education center. The Museum is an affiliate of the Smithsonian Institution and was the first aero-themed Museum to be accredited by the American Alliance of Museums. The Museum also is home to the prestigious International Air & Space Hall of Fame. The Museum is located at 2001 Pan American Plaza, Balboa Park, San Diego, CA 92101. The Museum and gift store are open daily from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with admissions until 4:30 p.m.
