Carlsbad Marathon, Full Marathon, Half Marathon, and Surf Sun Run 5K

As one of San Diego’s most scenic winter races, the Carlsbad Marathon series of races features breathtaking views of the coastline, course support, and entertainment along the way. All races take place on January 19, with start times ranging from 6:15am for the marathon to 6:45am for the Surf Sun Run. Each race starts and finishes at The Shoppes at Carlsbad.
Runners have the option to participate in the 26.2-mile marathon, the 13.1-mile half marathon, or the Surf Sun Run 5K which combines the half marathon and 5K. The half marathon is part of San Diego’s Half Marathon Triple Crown series, which also includes the San Diego Half Marathon and the America’s Finest City Half Marathon. A Finish Line Festival awaits runners at The Shoppes at Carlsbad. Runners can relax with loved ones while enjoying live music and refreshments. There is also a beer garden for those 21 and older.
Prior to race day, there is a Kids Marathon Mile on January 13 at Legoland California Resort. Participants can run, walk, stroll, or even be pushed in a stroller on a route that winds through the theme park. A portion of each registration is donated directly to Merlin’s Magic Wand, a children’s charity founded by Merlin Entertainment.
