San Diego Fair Petacular Theme

San Diego County Fair 2025 will be Pet-tacular!

June 11 – July 6

The county’s largest annual event will celebrate the bond between people and their pets during a 20-day “Summer Pet-tacular!”

Hot Diggity Dog (and cat and fish and bird)! The Fairgrounds will transform into a pet-lovers paradise at the 2025 San Diego County Fair.

Summer Pet-tacular was officially revealed as the final official tagline for the 2025 San Diego County Fair, and the new logo was presented on November 12, 2024. “Our community’s Fair — a treasured family summer tradition and the best deal in town for your entertainment dollar — will celebrate the special bonds between humans and their pets,” said Carlene Moore, CEO of the 22nd District Agricultural Association, which produces the annual Fair. “This fun theme creates a natural opportunity to partner with an organization [San Diego Humane Society] that has focused on improving animal welfare in our community since 1880 — the same year as the first-ever San Diego County Fair.”

Whether you’ve got a furry friend, a scaly sidekick or a feathered flock, we all agree that pets rock! They bring joy, laughter, and a whole lot of love into our lives. They’re our snuggle buddies, our adventure partners, and our loyal companions. In fact, studies show that owning a pet can boost your mood, improve your health, and even make you live longer!

Enter our featured theme exhibit and you’ll explore the world from a pet’s perspective —play with a giant ball of yarn or “swim” through an aquarium castle! “Pet Pairing” will help you determine what species and breeds have characteristics to best match your lifestyle. Discover strange-but-true fascinating facts and stories from the animal kingdom. Looking to add a new member to your family? Come find your new best friend at our adoption events and give an animal a loving home.

But hold on to your leashes — we have a few rules to make sure everyone has a totally paw-some time. For those who want to “paws and play” with us, guests can pre-register to participate in one of several activities with their pet — including pet agility, pet contests, and a pet parade. Aside from these select opportunities, guests must leave pets at home so we can ensure that everyone has a spectacular day at the Fair. (ADA service animals, however, are always welcome at the Fair).

Community participation is at the heart of the Fair. And in the next few months, applications will be made available on sdfair.com to participate in our competitive exhibits, on stage as entertainers, or in educational programs.

The Fair will feature numerous activities and ways to celebrate pet ownership and adoption. In addition, Gary Weitzman, President and CEO of San Diego Humane Society said that the Humane Society will work with Fair organizers to find special opportunities to include pets in the festivities on a limited basis and to provide dedicated space for animals who are available for adoption.

“With a record number of homeless pets in shelters, we are excited to help introduce Fair guests to their potential new family members,” Weitzman said. “This partnership with the county’s largest annual event allows us to celebrate our pets, educate our community about responsible pet ownership and find safe homes for these deserving animals in need.”

The 2025 Fair will be open June 11 – July 6, with closures every Monday and Tuesday. The Fair will feature food, music, rides, games, exhibits, entertainment, animals, agricultural education, and more. More information will be made available on sdfair.com in the coming months.
