Oside Turkey Trot

O’side Turkey Trot

November 28

Each year, the O’side Turkey Trot attracts participants from hundreds of cities across the country. It has been named as one of the top trots by “Runner’s World Magazine” and the “Los Angeles Times.” The race is in its 18th year, and it continues to be one of the region’s fastest-growing holiday traditions. Proceeds from the event benefit the Oceanside schools, non-profits, and the Move Your Feet Before You Eat!® foundation, which promotes a healthy lifestyle and supports physical fitness programs in schools.

The Turkey Trot offers many different race options for the entire family, including kids’ 1/5-and 1-mile courses and 5-mile and 5K routes. The trot has one of the most beautiful courses in the country, with at least 2 miles of ocean views and crashing waves. 5K and 5-mile runners leave the Oceanside Civic Center and follow a downhill route that finishes on the beach near Oceanside Pier. There is live entertainment along the route to keep runners pumped and motivated. Runners have the option to participate virtually as well. All participants receive a bib, T-shirt, and goodie bag. After the race, runners can also participate in a costume contest at 9:45am on the main stage of the Junior Seau Beach Community Center.

Oceanside Civic Center is located at 300 N. Coast Highway, Oceanside. For registration and more details, any changes and information, visit www.osideturkeytrot.com. Photos courtesy of Rich Cruse.
