The Nissan Super Girl Surf Pro is the largest women’s surfing event in the world. It brings together more than 80 of the world’s top professional athletes for a weekend of competition, classes, panel discussions, art exhibitions, and concerts. This year’s contest and festival take place from 8am to 7pm from September 19 to 21 at Oceanside Pier. The event is live from 8am to 4pm during the event weekend, via digital partners, including at www.supergirlsufpro.com and twitch.tv/supergirlseries.
Some of the biggest names in women’s surfing have competed over the years, including former Super Girl Champions Carissa Moore, Caroline Marks, Lakey Peterson, Tatiana Weston-Webb, Coco Ho, Sage Erickson, Caitlin Simmers (Oceanside), Alyssa Spencer (Carlsbad) and Samantha Sibley (San Clemente).
As an exciting addition to the surf lineup, the Nissan Super Girl Surf Pro also features an elite-level women’s longboarding competition with 48 of the top female pros and up-and-coming stars. World Champions Honolua Blomfield, Summer Romero, Soleil Errico, Kirra Seale, and Jen Smith have headlined the field of competitors.
There is also an action-packed Festival Village with live concerts and family-friendly activities. Video gamers can get excited for the annual Super Girl Gamer esports tournament, and music lovers can enjoy the all-female DJ competition. Attendees have the opportunity to meet and hear from female comediennes, actors, and celebrity speakers. There are panel discussions promoting female leadership and sustainability, as well as a military appreciation program.
For the athletically inclined, there is a women’s adaptive surf contest, a women’s beach soccer tournament, and free fitness, yoga, Zumba, Pilates, wellness, and self-defense classes. Thrill seekers won’t want to miss the female skydivers. After taking in the flurry of activities, attendees can chill out in the beer garden, with delicious selections from the food court.
