Tony’s Jacal, Solana Beach

Tony’s Jacal is one of the most famous and historic Mexican restaurants and cantinas in San Diego, and they are celebrating their 78th Anniversary this year! We highly recommend making your lunch, dinner, and Cinco de Mayo and Mother’s Day reservations as early as possible. Located in Solana Beach, Tony’s Jacal is a historic San Diego landmark, which opened their doors in 1946 as a small neighborhood house where neighbors would stop by for a delicious meal. The room later added nine tables. And later the restaurant expansion began when the family moved to a house across the street. If you’re one of the lucky ones who grew up anywhere in San Diego North County, you know how great Tony’s is and probably are a frequent guest. According to Zagat, “Tony’s Jacal is one of the most authentic north of the border Mexican restaurants.” And, we agree!

Mother’s Day offers moms a fresh flower, and on Cinco de Mayo, Mariachi music is “planned” with a very festive atmosphere. Taste the flavors of old Mexico and enjoy the history of one of the first Mexican restaurants in San Diego. Tony’s Jacal (pronounced hakal) is one of San Diego’s most treasured Mexican restaurants. Its reputation increased over the years because their cuisine is absolutely delicious, and their atmosphere and service are equally outstanding. For three generations, Tony’s Jacal has been serving family specialties, like their famous chile relleno, turkey tacos, turkey enchiladas, flautas and shrimp burritos. We recommend their very special signature turkey tamales, especially when covered with a wonderful mole sauce, made with black Pasilla Chiles. Guests can order turkey tamales off their menu all-year-round. Also, try Tony’s fajita burrito. It’s big, fresh, and very tasty!

Tony’s Jacal has a beautiful floral outdoor garden patio, and expanded patio seating. Their full bar offers a wide selection of tequila and Margaritas, and serves a variety of mezcal. Happy Hour is Monday through Friday from 5-7pm. Ask for a delicious Margarita or a tasty Mezcal Paloma with grapefruit soda on the rocks. Hours are Sun 12:00-8:30pm, Mon 11-2pm and 4:30-9pm, Closed Tuesdays except during summer horse racing season, Wed-Thurs 11-2pm and 4:30-9pm, and Fri-Sat 11-2pm and 4:30-9:30pm. If you are looking for an authentic Mexican restaurant experience, with wonderful food and drinks, and the finest service, Tony’s Jacal is the place!
