SeaWorld’s lushly landscaped waterpark opens for its fifth season on May 26. The park features up-close animal experiences, high speed thrills and the amenities of a beachside resort. It is also home to Big Surf Shores, one of the largest wave pools in Southern California, with more than 500,000 gallons of water. Water temperatures are heated to a comfortable temperature between 78 and 82 degrees throughout the park. New amenities this year will include additional shade structures and lounge chairs.

SeaWorld San Diego offers year-round marine fun, shows, rides, and up-close interactions to keep visitors busy all day. The park’s newest show, Dolphin Days, combines beach-style music with the high-flying fun of energetic dolphin stars to teach audiences about dolphin and pilot whale behaviors and promote conservation efforts. Visitors also have the opportunity to interact with shark pups, rays, horseshoe crabs and cleaner fish in four state-of-the-art freshwater and saltwater touch pools. They can watch penguins frolic and play at Penguin Encounter, which features more than 350 penguins representing five species, and observe turtles at Turtle Reef’s 280,000-gallon aquarium. Thrill seekers will enjoy the park’s wet and wild coasters, such as Journey to Atlantis and Manta, a double-launch coaster and 100,000-gallon aquarium filled with bat rays.
