June 2 – 4
The annual Rock ‘n’ Roll San Diego Marathon series returns to San Diego this summer with a full schedule of activities, including a 5K, relay, half marathon, and marathon. Proceeds from this year’s races benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
The races are preceded by a Health and Fitness Expo at San Diego Convention Center on June 2 and 3. The two-day event features the latest in running technologies, fitness apparel, health and nutrition information, and interactive displays. It is free and open to the public.
The first race is the 5K on June 3 which traverses the beautiful landscape of Balboa Park. Runners of all ability levels are welcome to participate. The event culminates with the relay, half marathon, and marathon on June 4. Participants enjoy a scenic course highlighting San Diego’s famous sites and live local bands while they run, and are encouraged by spirited cheer squads lining the course. At the Finish Line Festival, runners receive a free beer and admission to a post-race concert by Michael Franti and Spearhead.
