Pan American Beach Handball Championships

March 6-11

USA Beach Handball is pleased to announce the United States (Oceanside, CA) has been selected to host the 2018 Pan American Beach Handball Championships. The competition takes place March 6 to 11 at Junior Seau Pier Amphitheatre. It is the headline event featured in a long weekend of sports, music and food.

The tournament is open to men’s and women’s senior National Teams from North, Central, and South America, as well as Caribbean countries. A total of 20 teams – twelve men’s and eight women’s – are competing in four days of tournament play. The top four teams in each gender advance to the World Beach Handball Championships, which will be held in Kazan, Russia in July. Featured teams include the 2017 World Game Gold Medalist Brazil Men’s and Women’s Teams, World Games Silver Medalist Argentina Women’s Team, and the current Pan American Champions, the USA Men’s Team. The USA Women’s Team also makes its debut at the games.

Beach Handball is one of the quickest growing beach sports in the world, with its fast-paced games. The game is the “sand” version of the Olympic sport of Team Handball, played with teams of four and two sets of 10 minute each. Games are often decided by a shoot-out. The USA Beach Handball Program was founded in Southern California in late 2015 with the Men’s Team, who went on to become the Pan American Champions only six month later.

Junior Seau Pier Amphitheatre is located at 301 The Strand North, Oceanside. For more information visit
