Cruisin Grand

Cruisin’ Grand Escondido

April-September
Escondido’s Grand Avenue is the place to be on Friday nights through September, as the streets are taken over by a parade of pre-1970s automobiles for Cruisin’ Grand. All kinds of vintage autos – from American Hot Rods, Classics, Antiques, and Customs – span seven blocks of the city’s downtown area. In addition to classic cars, attendees can also enjoy all that downtown Escondido has to offer, including great restaurants, breweries and pubs, stores, boutiques, and live performance venues.

It’s widely known that Cruisin’ Grand was Steve Waldron’s idea. Steve used to cruise Valley Parkway on Friday and Saturday nights in the ‘70s. He’d go to the T-Bird Diner and think what a shame it was that the hot rods were parked instead of cruising. He started to think that “Grand Avenue was an exceptional street to have a cruise on, a street with great ambience.” The City and Escondido Police Department quickly got on board and their support has been crucial to the success of Cruisin’ Grand.

Cruisin’ Grand takes place on Grand Avenue, from Orange Street to Ivy Street, in downtown Escondido. For more information, visit www.cruisingrand.net
