For over 30 years, families have made it an annual tradition to come to Bates Nut Farm during the month of October, in search of the perfect pumpkin. While the pumpkin patch is the largest, oldest and most famous in San Diego County, Bates Nut Farm offers plenty of year-round fun on its 100-acre ranch. The beautiful setting, picnic and park areas, and menagerie of animals are a reminder of simpler times and childhood memories. In the retail store, shoppers can choose from a variety of fresh nuts, candies, dried fruits, chocolates, homemade fudge, and gourmet delights.
The Summer Food Truck Festival takes place on August 19. From 11 am to 4 pm, eight of San Diego’s favorite food trucks will be on hand serving a variety of mobile cuisine. From September 27 to October 31, the Pumpkin Patch returns as a fall tradition. Family and friends enjoy the tractor hayrides, straw maze, petting corral and Snows Pony Rides. Visitors can pick from a variety of pumpkins, including Big Macs, Ghost, Cinderella, Jack o’ Lantern, minis, squash, gourds and other fall décor. Weekends at Bates include live entertainment from 12 to 3pm, BBQ, kettle corn, food trucks, rock climbing, bounce houses, slides and other family-friendly events.
