The acclaimed Encinitas Oktoberfest returns for its 22nd year this fall on October 1 from 10 am to 6 pm. The Encinitas Chamber of Commerce has been the hosting organization since 1994 and has received acclaimed notoriety for capturing an authentic German spirit.
This family-friendly festival and marketplace is expected to attract 20,000 people. A ceremonial parade kicks off the event. Following the parade, attendees enjoy performances by traditional Bavarian dancers and German musicians throughout the afternoon. This year’s marketplace features around 200 vendors, including artisans with unique arts and crafts items and a family food and refreshment tent serving authentic German food and beverages. There will also be a craft beer garden with selections from Ballast Point, Resident Brewing Company, Burgeon Beer Company and the Lost Abby Brewing Company. For the younger crowd, a family fun zone with children’s games, rides, and family-oriented activities adds to the ongoing festivities.
Admission is free and attendees are encouraged to dress in German attire. Free shuttle service is offered from Flora Vista Elementary School’s parking lot off of Wandering Road.
Oktoberfest takes place along Mountain Vista Drive and El Camino Real in Encinitas. For more information call (760) 753-6041 or visit www.encinitasoktoberfest.com.
